Numbers that matter in customer service
Contact centers track performance closely, so you probably already know your numbers. The ones hiring managers recognize are customer satisfaction (CSAT), first-contact resolution, average handle time, quality scores and daily volume. Use the two or three where you beat the team average; leave out a metric that makes you look slow without context.
Skills worth listing
List the ticketing and CRM systems by name (Zendesk, Salesforce, Freshdesk, ServiceNow), any languages you can serve customers in, and your typing speed if it is fast. Soft skills such as patience and empathy are better shown in a bullet, for example a complaint you turned around, than listed on their own.
Frequently asked questions
- What should a customer service resume summary say?
- How long you have worked in service, in what setting, your daily volume and one quality metric, plus any languages and systems. Three sentences is enough.
- Should I include retail or hospitality jobs?
- Yes, if you are early in your career. They show customer-facing experience; describe the volume and any complaints or problems you handled.
