Make the scale clear

A “$300M division” or “a portfolio of 40 accounts” tells the reader how much responsibility you had. Add it to the role, then describe what you did with it: the forecast you own, the models you built, and the decisions your analysis changed. Savings and accuracy improvements with numbers are the strongest bullets an analyst can have.

One page, conservative format

Finance recruiters expect a one-page resume for analysts and a conservative layout with no color blocks. Put education with GPA (if 3.5 or above) near the top if you graduated in the last two years, and list licenses or CFA progress under certifications.

Frequently asked questions

Should I list CFA progress on my resume?
Yes. “CFA Level II candidate” or “Passed CFA Level I (2025)” shows commitment, and recruiters for many finance roles filter on it.
What skills do financial analyst roles screen for?
Excel modeling first, then SQL, a BI tool such as Power BI or Tableau, and the ERP the company uses. Name them exactly as the posting does.
