Skills

CATIA V5 · SolidWorks · ANSYS (FEA) · GD&T and ISO GPS · DFMEA · APQP and PPAP · IATF 16949

Projects, tools and standards

For each role, name the product, your part in it (concept, detail design, validation, industrialisation) and one measurable result. List CAD and simulation tools by name and version where it matters, and the standards you work to. Recruiters in automotive and machinery search for terms such as IATF 16949, APQP or DIN EN ISO standards.

Languages and local conventions

Give every language a CEFR level. For a German employer, a two-page CV with a photo is common but optional, and an Anschreiben (cover letter) and copies of certificates are usually expected. International employers in Germany and elsewhere generally accept an English CV without a photo; see the European CV guide for country differences.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to speak German to work as an engineer in Germany?
Not always, but it helps a great deal. Many design and development roles in large companies work in English; production and supplier-facing roles usually need German at B2 or above.
Should I translate my degree title?
Give the original title and an equivalent, for example “M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering (Maschinenbau)”, and the university and country.

Put it into practice

Build it from a region-matched template, then check what an ATS reads.
